How SAT® Scoring Works
The SAT® is scored on a scale of 400–1600.Your score is the sum of two section scores:
- Reading and Writing (200–800)
- Math (200–800)
A scaled score is obtained by computing each section of the test with a formula applicable to each test version.
- Top 10%: 1450+
- National Average: 1050–1100
- Below Average: <950
The percentile score is used to show you where you stand in terms of your score against millions of people who have taken this test.
