How Gratuity is Calculated in Qatar
According to Qatar Labour Law -Article 54, the gratuity is computed as follows:
Gratuity=(30Basic Salary)×21×Years of Service
Where:
Basic Salary = Your last drawn monthly basic pay.
21 days = The minimum gratuity per year of service.
Years of Service = Total completed years in the company
Example Calculations
Employee with 3 Years of Service
- Joining Date: 01/01/2021
- Last Working Date: 01/01/2024
- Basic Salary: QAR 7,500
- Step 1: Daily salary = 7,500 ÷ 30 = QAR 250
- Step 2: 21 days = 250 × 21 = QAR 5,250
- Step 3: 3 years = 5,250 × 3 = QAR 15,750
Total Gratuity Payable: QAR 15,750
Employee with 7 Years of Service
- Joining Date: 10/05/2016
- Last Working Date: 10/05/2023
- Basic Salary: QAR 12,000
- Step 1: Daily salary = 12,000 ÷ 30 = QAR 400
- Step 2: 21 days = 400 × 21 = QAR 8,400
- Step 3: 7 years = 8,400 × 7 = QAR 58,800
Total Gratuity Payable: QAR 58,800
