The EOS benefit depends on three factors:

  1. Basic Salary (SAR): monthly salary allowances.
  2. Reason for Termination – resignation, termination, or contract completion.
  3. Reason for Termination – resignation

The General Formula

  • For the first 5 years of service:
    • Half a month’s salary per year of service.
  • After 5 years of service:
One full month’s salary per year for the remaining years.

Example

  • First 5 years = (10,000 ÷ 2) × 5 = 25,000 SAR
  • Next 2 years = (10,000 × 2) = 20,000 SAR
  • Total EOS = 45,000 SAR

Example

  • Salary: 15,000 SAR
  • Service: 15 years
  • Benefit: (15,000 ÷ 2 × 5) + (15,000 × 10) = 162,500 SAR

Limited vs Unlimited Contracts

There are two types of contracts; the details are given below:

Limited Contract

  • Employee is entitled to full EOS if the contract ends or the employer terminates.
  • If the employee resigns before the end of the contract, entitlement may be reduced.

Unlimited Contract

  • EOS entitlement depends heavily on years of service and resignation rules.
  • If resigning before 2 years, the employee usually EOS.
  • Between 2–5 years, only one-third is given.
